Victoria Legal Aid (VLA)
VLA can provide specialist advice and legal representation at Tribunal hearings for compulsory patients. VLA provides service to most metropolitan and some regional mental health services. VLA can also provide specialist advice and assistance about other legal issues.

Mental Health Legal Centre (MHLC)
The MHLC is also able to provide advice, assistance and representation at Tribunal hearings. The MHLC also has a dedicated night phone advice service
between 6.30-8.30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays for those experiencing legal problems.

Patients are also welcome to engage private lawyers to represent them at Tribunal hearings at their own expense.
