Freedom of Information and Protected Disclosures
Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information Act 1982 gives people the right to access information held by ministers, state government departments, local councils, public hospitals, most semi-government agencies and statutory authorities. The Tribunal’s Freedom of Information guidelines explain how to make a request. The Tribunal does not have copies of your clinical file. If you require access to your clinical file, please contact your treating mental health service.
Further information about freedom of information is available at www.foi.vic.gov.au.
The Protected Disclosure Act 2012 came into effect in February 2013 and replaced the Whistleblowers Protection Act 2001. The Tribunal’s Protected Disclosures guidelines explain how to make a disclosure.
Further information about protected disclosures is available from the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission’s website at www.ibac.vic.gov.au.
